Peoria Packing: What a meat-market!
Nope. Not even the trip to Peoria Packing (1300 W Lake St Chicago, IL 60607) convinced me to go all-veg.
Actually, other than the severed pig heads, I thought this was the greatest place for meat- (and fish- and poultry-) lovers in the history of the world. Ever.
Peoria Packing is an all-refrigerated warehouse of pick-your-own meats. There are dozens of plastic tubs sitting on rows and rows of tables.
Each tub is piled high with its own type of meat, fish, poultry, whatever. You pick up as much as you want of your "product" yourself and drop it into a plastic bag. You just have to use new disposable plastic gloves each time you handle an item.
Top-quality meats and cheap cheap cheap! They also have chicken feet, tripe, hogs heads and what-the-hells-that.
Pretty fun place.
I wonder what the folks at VegetarianWednesday.net would say about this?
